Assistive Technology

Assistive Technology Equipment Center (ATEC)

The Assistive Technology (ATEC) Lab is located in the Student Services Building (SSB), room 4.206 and offers adaptive equipment and software for students registered with SSD. The ATEC lab also serves as the production facility for students who receive alternative text such as E-text, digital audio, and enlarged print.

The ATEC Lab contains PC workstations equipped with standard university-wide applications as well as the following programs:

  • JAWSCCTV Magnifiying a Book
  • Kurzweil 3000
  • Kurzweil 1000
  • Dragon Naturally Speaking
  • ZoomText

Other Equipment:

  • Color CCTV
  • High speed duplexing scanners
  • Flatbed scanners

In addition to assistive technology and adaptive equipment, the ATEC Lab offers on site staff to assist students with scanning, testing and assistive technology use as needed.
