Campus Resources

There are multiple offices and departments on campus that provide information and support to students. Below are some resources that may be of particular use for students with disabilities.

Maps

This will take you to a variety of maps, including an online accessibility map that helps identify accessible pathways and doors to buildings.

Parking

This will take you to the Parking and Transportation Services web site for persons with disabilities and answer questions about how to obtain a “D” permit for parking on campus.

Housing

This will take you to the Division of Housing and Food web site if you have questions regarding housing or food options on campus.

The disABILITY Advocacy Student Coalition

The Disability Advocacy Student Coalition (DASC) is a student organization with the purpose of promoting awareness, advocacy and education about disability on the UT campus.

Center for Strategic Advising & Career Counseling

Center for Strategic Advising & Career Counseling serves students across campus who are exploring majors and careers, as well as undeclared students enrolled in the School of Undergraduate Studies.

Sanger Learning Center is UT Austin’s main resource for academic support. Each year, we help more than 10,000 students achieve their academic potential.

Undergraduate Writing Center (UWC)

UWC provides individual and professional advice on all aspects of writing to UT undergraduates on a drop-in basis or by appointment. They also offer an online service, VIRGIL, which may be helpful for those students writing papers at 2 a.m.

Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC)

CMHC helps students with their personal concerns so that they can meet the daily challenges of student life. They offer individual, group and psychiatric services. Mind Body Lab for stress reduction.

Voices Against Violence

Part of CMHC, VAV offers support, resources, and events surrounding relationship violence topics including consent, stalking, sexual assault, and healthy relationships.

Services Emergency Services

The Student Emergency Services works with campus and community organizations to provide a number of services to assist students and, in some cases, their families and friends during an emergency or crisis situation. These services may include provision of limited emergency funds, assistance with academic issues, outreach and advocacy for students, and coordination with other relevant UT offices.

Center for Students in Recovery

The mission of The Center for Students in Recovery is to provide a supportive community where students in recovery and in hope of recovery can achieve academic success while enjoying a genuine college experience free from alcohol and other drugs. The CSR is located inside the School of Social Work on the ground level.

Student Ombuds Services

Develop Options. Make Referrals. Clarify Policy. Explore Solutions.

The Office of the Student Ombuds only serves currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students. We can also assist faculty, staff, alumni, and parents with questions about student-related concerns.

We provide information and assistance to students who have university-related questions or complaints. The office can also help university officials including faculty, staff, and administration by providing information and problem solving regarding student issues. Additionally, we report trends and suggestions to the appropriate officials.
