Celebrity Golf Classic
Meet Celebrities from your Favorite SportThe pre-tournament celebration will be at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center on Sunday, May 19. Guests will be treated to dinner, drinks and live and silent auctions. The golf tournament on Monday, May 20, features a double shotgun start: one for morning and one for afternoon play. Forty celebrity and 160 amateur players make up the field, which is divided into five-person teams consisting of four amateurs and one celebrity. The tournament is played in a scramble format, with prizes awarded for the first three low-gross teams. Golfers will receive breakfast or lunch as well as commemorative gifts and the opportunity to win additional prizes throughout the day.
Neighborhood Longhorns Program Celebrity Golf ClassicH-E-B and The Neighborhood Longhorns Program Advisory Board are pleased to host the 21st Annual Neighborhood Longhorns Program Celebrity Golf Classic on May 19-20. This year’s event will be held at the University of Texas Golf Club, located just a few miles west of downtown Austin, off Highway 620. This tradition continues to honor those who have made a positive impact in the community. This years pre-tournament gala will be be honoring Texas’ 2012 National Championship Coaches, Jerritt Elliott in Women’s Volleyball and John Fields in Men’s Golf. It is sure to be an exciting night and a beautiful day of golf, but most importantly by participating, you are providing economically disadvantaged youth with the resources to build a strong academic future. We hope to see you at this year’s Celebrity Golf Classic. All proceeds benefit The Neighborhood Longhorns Program.
For the sixth consecutive year, the tournament benefits UT’s Neighborhood Longhorns Program, and during that time, more than $200,000 have been raised by NAPA to benefit the youth in our community. Once again, the funds will be used to support NLP, the educational incentives program started by UT Athletics for Men and Women in 1991. The NLP works with schools in surrounding communities to improve academic performance. Now under The Division of Diversity and Community Engagement, the Many of UT coaches currently assist The Neighborhood Longhorns Program with Educational Programs like the UT Women’s Soccer STEM Challenge, Coach Clark’s D.I.R.T. Leadership Program, Augie’s Grand Slam Reading Program, Coach Barnes Hooked on Health program. These programs have created opportunities for NLP participants who succeed in the classroom to experience The University of Texas.
