Today Inside Higher Ed discusses the Obama administration’s amicus brief that backs the University of Texas at Austin with regard to its consideration of race and ethnicity in admissions decisions. The brief supports affirmative action as as well as the need for universities to have “leeway in determining how race and diversity factor into admissions decisions” writes Scott Jaschik. The brief also notes that in some instances white students may also benefit from the university’s commitment to admitting a diverse student population. A copy of the amicus brief may be downloaded from Inside Higher Ed.
