As students in the 1980s, ’90s and 2000s, they changed the social landscape of The University of Texas at Austin, orchestrating civil rights actions that would lead the school to divest in South Africa during Apartheid, build statues of diverse leaders like Martin Luther King, Jr., and enact policies against racial discrimination. Now as alumni, Randy Bowman, Marlen Whitley and Choquette Hamilton continue to serve the University as it works at becoming the inclusive, welcoming place they have long envisioned.
