On Saturday, March 3, more than 50,000 people from around the state descended on The University of Texas at Austin for Explore UT–the annual recruitment event that features fun, games, feats of magic in chemistry, dancing, music, explorations of engineering and more. With more than 400 activities to choose from, kids of all ages have the chance to learn new things and interact with faculty, staff and students. The event is an effective recruiting tool–77 percent of accepted seniors attending Explore UT in 2011 enrolled in the university last fall versus 40 percent of seniors who were accepted but didn’t attend.
