IE Participant Mayra Hernandez Changing the World

August 6, 2012

Mayra Hernandez is a great example of how University of Texas at Austin graduates are changing the world and of how an Intellectual Entrepreneurship Pre-Grad Internship contributes. Hernandez participated in the IE program in 2006. After completing a Masters of Social Work, Hernandez became  a bilingual counselor at Safe Place in Austin. She provides individual, family and group counseling to victims of sexual assault and or domestic violence. Many of her Latina/o clients also present with human trafficking issues and discuss traumas related to Mexico crimes.

Mayra Hernandez participated in IE as an undergraduate at The University of Texas at Austin.

Read more about Mayra’s experience in IE as an undergraduate at https://webspace.utexas.edu/cherwitz/www/ie/m_hernandez.html or watch the video Find Your Passion, which featured Hernandez and other IE Pre-Grad Interns.

Undergraduates may still register for the Intellectual Entrepreneurship Pre-Graduate School Internship, which provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to work closely with a graduate student mentor and/or faculty member. Course offered in the fall.
