On August 28, DDCE staff and friends held a retirement ceremony for Deb Duval, executive director of external relations, to celebrate her dedication and service to the division.
Deb was instrumental in managing many of DDCE’s annual signature events including the Community Leadership Awards and the Heman Sweatt Symposium, and serving as a liaison to campus and community partners. Besides events, she oversaw the division’s strategic communications, including marketing and branding.
Dr. Gregory Vincent, vice president for diversity and community engagement and Robiaun Charles, assistant vice president for development, celebrated Deb as a colleague, and presented her with a framed Serie Project print. Deb said that she was very surprised and was very thankful for the sendoff and to everyone who contributed.
Prior to her appointment in DDCE, she worked in the UT Office of Community Relations. She also served as director of student life at Austin Community College, associate director for United Way-Capital Area, and faculty member at Cisco Community College. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Abilene Christian University.
