UT Elementary School looks even more colorful and inviting after a group of volunteers worked on several outdoor improvement projects during Beautification Day this past Saturday.
About 70 parents, students, school staff and volunteers met at the school to paint picnic tables and classroom doors, re-pot plants on the boardwalk, stencil the sport court, and till and remove weeds in the garden beds. Kris Swift, a contestant from HGTV’s Design Star season seven, assisted with the effort in volunteering his time on the day’s projects and helping plan them ahead of time.
The end result includes picnic tables in vibrant colors, adorning plants such as cactus and bougainvilleas along the walkways and atop tables, and chalkboard paint outside of classrooms so teachers can write messages.
