Eleven Inducted into UT Service Scholars

University of Texas at Austin students Ailia Ahmed, Luz Angeles, Marlee Burns, Alysia Chen, Ignacio Cruz, Amy Cui, Jake Hertzing, Melanie Magonotto, Karl Migacz and Natasha Sherma were inducted into the UT Service Scholars (UTSS) on Nov. 27.

UTSS Executive Council Member Virginia Mae Thomas served as the mistress of ceremonies as eleven new members of the UT Service Scholars program were inducted as UT Service Scholars who successfully completed 50 hours of community service.

Dr. Gregory Vincent, Vice President of the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement congratulated the inductees on completion of their hours and underscored the importance of their work in maintaining the University of Texas slogan, “what starts here, changes the world.” Dr. Robert Hutchings, Dean of the LBJ School of Public Affairs followed, echoing the importance of community service and the profound impact it has on our society. Lastly, UT Service Scholars’ Advisory Council member and Chief Service Officer for the City of Austin, Sly Majid, applauded the scholars on the critical connection they have made with the community and encouraged them to consider a future in public service.
