AmeriCorps VISTAs Honored at Mayors Day of Service

On Tuesday, April 9, Mayor Lee Leffingwell  joined more than 600 other mayors around the country in honoring the impact of AmeriCorps VISTA and other national service programs during a Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service that was held at City Hall.

Leaders and distinguished guests celebrated hundreds of national service members who serve in the Austin, supporting local nonprofits, protecting the environment and working with underprivileged youth. View a slideshow from the event on Flickr.

The Division of Diversity and Community Engagement is partnering with the City of Austin and other organizations including Huston-Tillotson University, BIG Austin, Capital Area Food Bank, Con mi Madre and United Way of Central Texas to fill positions with AmeriCorps VISTA this summer.
