The 4th annual Spanish Seminar sponsored by the Mexican American Association of Pharmacy Students (MAAPS), took place April 4th, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. The objective of the seminar was to provide pharmacy students with Spanish lessons that would allow them to communicate and understand the needs of Spanish speaking patients. The seminar offered five different small group lessons: basic Spanish, community pharmacy, over the counter medications, nutrition and health screenings.
Students were divided evenly among the five stations and remained in each of the sessions for approximately 20 minutes. The lessons were interactive, allowing students to participate in their learning and provided them with the opportunity to ask questions. Attendees were not required to stay for the entirety of the seminar, but most did complete all five of the rotations between the small groups.
The Division of Diversity and Community Engagement is a proud co-sponsor of the 4th Annual Spanish Seminar.
