We are looking forward to celebrating the many achievements and successes of this year’s graduating class. There are a few special graduation ceremonies this week, including Black Graduation, the first bilingual Latino Graduation and Lavender Graduation:
Wednesday, May 15th
On Wed. May 15 is Lavender Graduation & LGBT Alumni Celebration. Lavender Graduation is an event celebrating the achievements of graduating LGBT students organized by the UT Gender and Sexuality Center. The alumni celebration is hosted by the Texas Exes Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Network’s Alumni Celebration.
The graduation starts at 4 p.m. in the Student Activity Center Ballroom, followed immediately by the LGBT reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center, Connally Ballroom. RSVP online.
Thursday, May 16th
Sponsored in part by the Multicultural Engagement Center’s Afrikan American Affairs, Black Graduation is an annual event that celebrates the accomplishments of African & African American seniors.
This year’s ceremony will take place in the Texas Union Ballroom at 10:00 a.m. on May 16th. A reception will immediately follow. Participation is $40. Learn more here: http://springblackgrad.wix.com/aaa13#
The Latino Leadership Council will present its first Latino Graduation at The University of Texas at Austin at 6 p.m. on May 16th in the Student Activity Center Ballroom. Latino Graduation is a ceremony where Latino graduates along with their parents, family, and friends have an opportunity to celebrate their success and accomplishments at The University of Texas at Austin. Finally, last but not least, University-wide Commencement will be Saturday, May 18th at 8 p.m. at the Tower. There are new security procedures in place this year, in case you haven’t heard – be sure to check those out. Congratulations to all our graduates!
