UT Elementary School wins $15,000 Google grant

June 11, 2013

UT Elementary School (UTES) received  $15,000 from Google to support Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in early primary grade levels. Google additionally provided UT Elementary with 10 refurbished computers and a printer through a Google Goodware grant.

“It means extending our classroom beyond our four walls,” said second-grade teacher, Stephanie Cerda, who led efforts to secure funding from Google. “It means seeking answers to questions from experts via Google Hangouts, and increased collaboration between students.”

Google’s generosity will also do much to improve instruction at UT Elementary.

“I can further differentiate and serve more students individually by tweaking projects and assignments based on their levels, needs, interests thanks to web-based programs that help students while I am working on small group instruction with other groups,” said Cerda.
