Other awardees included Joe R. Pelayo, one of the HSC board members; the honorable Lloyd Doggett, Latinitas and St. Edward’s University Career Services.

The HSC encourages Latino students to expect more of themselves and gives them the tools and resources to accomplish such goals.  Participants receive supplemental education through an annual conference where academic, community and business leaders teach them the applied skills for career achievement along with the tools for academic and personal success.  The Texas Leadership Pipeline Conference helps prepare the next generation of Texas leaders with a philanthropic outlook. Students from colleges across the state attend the five-day conference which includes workshops on a variety of topics including the Importance of Being Creativel Leading, Managing and Working in Teams; and Cultural Identity and Pride for Success.
