Former UTES Teacher Michael Adams Remembered

December 11, 2013

The Division of Diversity and Community Engagement was saddened to learn that Michael Adams, former UT Elementary School technology and robotics teacher, passed away Dec. 10 after battling cancer for two years. He taught at the school for several years before his illness and developed strong relationships with many of the students, especially those who are currently in the fourth and fifth grades. Michael’s wife, Felicia Adams, is the current STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) teacher at the school.

UT Elementary Executive Director Dr. Melissa Chavez said, “Mr. Adams was an incredible teacher who was loved by all his students, the staff, and the community.  He taught us all that learning is fun and that we all have something to teach and we all have something to learn no matter what our age.  Mr. Adams was a blessing to the school’s learning community and he will be truly missed. The students and staff are currently working on a permanent memorial to be placed in his honor on the UT Elementary school grounds in January 2014.”
