Dr. Aileen Bumphus, assistant vice president for academic diversity initiatives, has been appointed to the Diversity Abroad Network Task Force on Leadership. It is one of nine task forces that were developed as a way to bring together international education and diversity professionals to provide critical guidance and support to Diversity Network initiatives and contribute to the development of new resources for the field of international education. The nine task forces include Race/Ethnicity, High Financial Need, First-Generation, Disabilities, LGBTQ, Religion, Males, STEM and Leadership.
Those who serve on the task forces demonstrate a commitment to increasing access to international education opportunities to diverse and underrepresented student populations. Dr. Bumphus will serve with five (5) colleagues from around the country representing both institutions and organizations involved in education abroad.
Dr. Bumphus has been involved in the DDCE Maymester program through the Longhorn Center for Academic Excellence (LCAE). Last summer she was one of four LCAE staff members who led the Beijing Maymester and will return to Beijing in the summer of 2015.
