Civil Rights: There is Still Work to be Done

The Huffington Post today published “15 Charts That Prove We Are Far From Post-Racial.” We have no doubt made progress since President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act 50 years ago, but there is still plenty of work to be done especially in the education arena. “A 10 percentage-point increase in the share of nonwhite students in a school is associated with a $75 decrease in per student spending,” a 2012 analysis of Department Education data by the Center For American Progress found.
