July 17: Community Discussion of Collective Courage: A History of African American Cooperative Economic Thought and Practice

The nonprofit Cooperation Texas is hosting a conversation with scholar/activist Jessica Gordon Nembhard on her new book that chronicles the “long, strong, but hidden history” of African Americans in the cooperative movement“Collective Courage: A History of African American Cooperative Economic Thought & Practice”. A political economist and professor of Community Justice and Social Economic Development in the Department of African American Studies at John Jay College of the City University of New York, Nembhard was a founding member of the US Federation of Worker Cooperatives and is co-founder of The Democracy Collaborative at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Copies of Nembhard’s book will be for sale, along with food and beverages from local cooperatives!
