Carver Museum
The George Washington Carver Museum & Cultural Center in East Austin plays host to the first of the Community Leadership Awards, incepted in 2007, which honors individuals and organizations for their service to Austin and Texas’ African American community. Past recipients include Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson and former Dallas mayor and United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk.
