Latino Male Symposium

Welcome to the archive page for the UT Latino Male Symposium. From 2011 to 2013, Project MALES and DDCE hosted an annual UT Latino Male Symposium to highlight the ongoing educational challenges facing Latino males in Education. Over the course of three years, close to 750 professionals and educators from around the state of Texas attended this annual gathering to engage and discuss this important statewide imperative. Symposia featured policymakers, educators, researchers, and community organizations focused on addressing male student success. Our sponsors included the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, the Center for Mexican American Studies, TG, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, South Texas College, and Generation TX.

Beginning in 2014, the UT Latino Male Symposium will be in hiatus. In its place will be a new event called the UT-Austin Male Student Leadership Summit. The 2014 Summit will take place on June 27-28, 2014, and the primary audience for this event will be male students of color attending Consortium institutions across the state of Texas.
